A landau (convertible four wheeled carriage) stands by in the main courtyard entrance at night. This scene was captured on medium format slide film; an almost impossible feat due to the horse’s movements making them blur in almost every frame.
This collection features images of pure-bred Andalusian horses on the grounds of a 16th century palace in Écija (Spain) from the book "Cárdenas: Horses & Home."
For this opulent coffee-table book I had the honor of being the only photographer ever to collaborate with world renown equine photographer Robert Vavra, who art directed these images.
Shot in 2003 mostly on 6x7cm Fuji slide film, I have now painstakingly "re-mastered" the original book scans to enhance these images for this collection.
